Modular 4/8-slot spline switch exceeding 50 Tbps fabric capacity at sub-2.5 µs latency for collapsed-tier and large-scale spine data center deployments.
The Arista 7300X3 Series is a modular "Spline" chassis platform (a combined spine-and-line-card architecture) that delivers up to 576 Tbps of switching capacity across 4-slot (7304X3), 7-slot (7308X3), and 10-slot (7312X3) chassis options. Line cards populate fabric capacity linearly as slots are filled, allowing initial deployment at lower port counts with in-service expansion without replacing the chassis. Available line card types include 36x QSFP-DD 400G (7300X3-LC-36DD) and 48x QSFP28 100G + 4x OSFP 400G (7300X3-LC-C48Y4D), supporting both pure 400G spine tiers and mixed-speed environments where 100G and 400G ports are required simultaneously.
Beyond basic switching, the 7300X3 supports full IP routing including IPv4/IPv6 unicast and multicast, MPLS and Segment Routing, BGP-LU, EVPN-VXLAN, and inter-VRF routing, allowing the chassis to function simultaneously as a data-centre spine switch and a network-layer routing hub. Redundant supervisor modules (7300X3-SUP) and N+N power supplies in the 2400W (PWR-2400-AC) or 3000W (PWR-3000-AC) range provide the component-level redundancy expected of a core modular platform.
Four-slot, seven-slot, and ten-slot chassis share the same supervisor module, line cards, and EOS software, enabling organisations to deploy a smaller chassis initially and replace it with a larger one as port requirements grow, without any software re-learning or recertification of the management workflow. All three sizes consume the same physical rack unit depth and use the same power module form factor.
Ten populated line-card slots in the 7312X3 reach 576 Tbps of switching capacity, sufficient for hyperscale spine tiers connecting hundreds of leaf switches, each running at 400G uplink speeds. The linear scaling model means per-slot capacity does not degrade as additional line cards are installed, allowing capacity planning based on simple arithmetic rather than complex over-subscription modelling.
The 7300X3-LC-36DD (36x QSFP-DD 400G) and 7300X3-LC-C48Y4D (48x QSFP28 100G + 4x OSFP 400G) line cards can be mixed within the same chassis. This allows deploying 400G line cards for GPU-cluster-facing spine uplinks while retaining 100G line cards for legacy server rack connections, all within a single managed chassis with a unified routing table.
Full MPLS forwarding, Segment Routing with Traffic Engineering, and EVPN-VXLAN overlay support means the 7300X3 can operate as a pure switching spine or as a routing-capable supercore, eliminating the need for a separate aggregation-layer router when MPLS or EVPN tunnelling is required at the spine tier. All routing features run at line rate in hardware without control-plane slowpath processing.
