Arista's SD-WAN and edge routing portfolio combines VeloCloud's software-defined WAN technology with Arista's cloud networking stack, providing a unified operational model from the branch edge to the cloud edge. The VeloCloud appliance family covers the full range of branch sizes, from the compact 7x0 series with integrated 5G for mobile and small-branch deployments to the 4100 and 5100 series for regional hubs and data center edge nodes, all managed through VeloCloud Orchestrator as a single unified SD-WAN overlay regardless of physical location or appliance model.

VeloCloud's dynamic multi-path routing continuously steers application traffic across all available WAN links (MPLS, broadband internet, and cellular) based on real-time measurement of latency, jitter, and packet loss on each path. Latency-sensitive applications such as voice, video conferencing, and real-time financial data feeds are prioritized to paths that meet their SLA requirements, while bulk data transfer and backup traffic use all available links simultaneously to maximize aggregate WAN utilization without creating contention on the preferred path for critical applications.

For enterprise networks that have already deployed Arista data center switching, adding VeloCloud SD-WAN extends the same EOS-based operational model to the WAN edge: consistent streaming telemetry, CloudVision management visibility, and the Arista support structure covering both the data center fabric and the branch WAN under one commercial relationship. Virtual edge deployments from cloud marketplaces allow SD-WAN policy to be applied to cloud-hosted workloads without deploying physical hardware in every region, completing the coverage of hybrid and multi-cloud enterprise WAN architectures.
