Cloud-Grade Routing

Cloud-Grade Routing

Routing platforms spanning 10G to 800G that simplify service-provider NFV, cloud WAN, content edge, and data center interconnect deployments with a single EOS software stack across every model.

Talk to a Specialist

Arista's cloud-grade routing platforms span 10G to 800G in a single EOS software stack across every router model, from the compact 7020R4 leaf switch-router to the 7280R4 which supports 800G interfaces with wire-speed TunnelSec encryption. A single operating system across the full speed range means routing configurations, automation scripts, and troubleshooting workflows developed for one platform apply directly to every other platform in the portfolio, eliminating the parallel operational knowledge bases and separate upgrade cadences that multi-OS routing portfolios impose on operations teams.

The routing platforms support a broad service menu including MPLS, Segment Routing with Traffic Engineering (SR-TE), EVPN-VXLAN, BGP-LS, FlexAlgo, and IEEE 1588 PTP timing, enabling deployment in service provider NFV, cloud WAN interconnect, content delivery edge, and data center interconnect roles from the same hardware family without platform-specific feature gaps. Wire-speed MACsec and TunnelSec encryption on selected models allows encrypted interconnect between sites and enclaves at full line rate without separate encryption appliances.

Deep packet buffers on the R-series platforms absorb traffic bursts from TCP incast, CDN origin pull, and backup workflows without inducing the tail drop that causes TCP to back off and reduces effective throughput. The 7500R3 provides up to 16 GB of packet buffer per line card, a capability that differentiates it significantly from shallow-buffer spine designs for workloads where traffic arrives in unpredictable bursts relative to the average forwarding rate, such as storage replication, large-file content distribution, and backup workflows.

Single EOS from 7020R4 to 7280R4

Routing configurations, automation scripts, and troubleshooting workflows developed for one platform apply directly across every other model, reducing the transition cost when upgrading hardware and eliminating the parallel operational knowledge bases that multi-OS routing portfolios create.

MPLS, SR-TE, EVPN-VXLAN, FlexAlgo

The full service menu (MPLS, Segment Routing with Traffic Engineering, EVPN-VXLAN, BGP-LS, FlexAlgo, and IEEE 1588 PTP timing) enables deployment in service provider NFV, cloud WAN interconnect, CDN edge, and data center interconnect roles from the same hardware family.

Wire-Speed MACsec and TunnelSec

Wire-speed MACsec and TunnelSec encryption on selected models enables encrypted interconnect between sites and enclaves at full line rate without separate encryption appliances or throughput penalties, relevant for government, financial services, and multi-tenant data center interconnect deployments.

Deep Packet Buffers for Burst Absorption

Up to 16 GB of packet buffer per line card on the 7500R3 absorbs traffic bursts from TCP incast, CDN origin pull, and backup workflows without inducing tail drop that would reduce effective throughput or trigger TCP retransmit storms at large scale.
