The Arista 7050X3 Series is a 1RU 100G leaf switch family delivering 6.4 Tbps of non-blocking switching capacity. Eight models address different port configurations from 32x QSFP28 100G (7050CX3-32S) up to 64x QSFP28 100G with 2x QSFP28 100G uplinks (7050CX3-32E), alongside mixed configurations combining 48x SFP28 25G server-facing ports with 8x QSFP28 100G uplinks (7050SX3-48YC8 / 7050SX3-48YC12) and copper variants with 48x RJ45 10GBase-T + 8x QSFP28 100G. The shared hardware platform and EOS software version across all models simplifies multi-tier leaf deployment with consistent automation and telemetry.
Sub-microsecond store-and-forward latency, a Unified Forwarding Table (UFT) with selectable MAC/LPM/host-route profiles, 32-way ECMP, and 128K MAC addresses make the 7050X3 suitable for both L2 bridged and L3 routed leaf deployments. EVPN-VXLAN overlay support allows the platform to serve as a VTEP in both symmetric and asymmetric IRB configurations. Dual hot-swappable power supplies at 93% Platinum efficiency and N+1 redundant fans complete the hardware redundancy profile expected of a production leaf switch.
Eight port configurations covering 32–64 QSFP28 100G ports and mixed 25G/10G server + 100G uplink combinations share a single EOS software release, enabling a uniform management, automation, and telemetry workflow across all leaf tiers in a multi-rack deployment. Operators write a single playbook or template and apply it across all 7050X3 variants without per-model conditional logic.
Store-and-forward latency below one microsecond at 100G enables latency-sensitive workloads (financial market data, high-frequency trading, distributed databases, and storage area network traffic) to operate on a shared leaf fabric without requiring dedicated hardware or isolated network segments. The latency figure is consistent across all eight 7050X3 models sharing the same switching ASIC.
Native EVPN-VXLAN support allows the 7050X3 to function as a VXLAN Tunnel Endpoint (VTEP) in both symmetric and asymmetric IRB configurations, enabling the switch to participate in BGP EVPN control-plane overlay fabrics without requiring a dedicated VTEP gateway device. This eliminates the per-VLAN flooding that characterises legacy L2 leaf designs while retaining a flat broadcast domain visible to attached servers.
A Unified Forwarding Table (UFT) with selectable profiles allocates TCAM capacity between MAC addresses, IPv4 LPM routes, and IPv6 LPM routes based on the actual requirements of each deployment. A MAC-heavy profile suits L2-dominated enterprise leaf tiers; an LPM-heavy profile suits L3-routed cloud leaf tiers. Changing the profile requires only a configuration change followed by a reboot, not a hardware replacement.
