The Arista C-400 is a Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) indoor access point designed for office and campus deployments where the primary requirement is 6GHz connectivity with a standard PoE+ power budget and a compact physical footprint. At 185×185mm it is the smallest AP in the Arista Wi-Fi 7 portfolio, and at 22W it draws less power than any 5GHz-only 802.11ac AP of comparable MIMO order, enabling Wi-Fi 7 deployment from existing 802.3at PoE+ infrastructure without a switch refresh. Three concurrent 2×2:2 access radios on 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz deliver a combined peak physical rate of 5.76 Gbps, with 802.11be multi-link operation (MLO) enabling client devices to aggregate bandwidth across bands within a single session for reduced latency and improved throughput stability under load.

Memory is sized for the full CloudVision CV-CUE management stack: 2 GB LPDDR4 RAM, 16 MB NOR flash for boot, and 8 GB eMMC for operating system, configuration, logs, and diagnostic captures. The single 5 GbE uplink port accepts 802.3at PoE+ power and connects to the upstream campus switch at 5 Gbps, matching the AP's aggregate tri-band radio capacity at the wired interface without requiring a 10 GbE switch port. A 5 dBi integrated antenna gain provides a coverage radius appropriate for the C-400's intended per-room or per-workspace deployment pattern, where one AP serves a conference room, private office, or open-plan zone of 20–30 clients rather than a high-density venue covering hundreds of simultaneous users. The operating temperature range of 0°C to 45°C covers standard commercial indoor environments without requiring environmental conditioning beyond typical office HVAC.

22W on 802.3at PoE+ — No Switch Upgrade Needed

At 22W maximum power draw, the C-400 operates from any 802.3at PoE+ switch port that delivers at least 25.5W at the port, covering all standard PoE+ switches without requiring PoE++ infrastructure. For organisations with large existing PoE+ switch estates (such as those built on Arista 720D series or equivalent), the C-400 enables Wi-Fi 7 deployment across the entire campus without requiring switch hardware replacement as a prerequisite. This is the principal operational distinction between the C-400 and the C-430 or C-460, which draw 24W and 41.8W respectively and benefit from or require PoE++ for their full feature sets.

Wi-Fi 7 Tri-Band with MLO

802.11be multi-link operation (MLO) allows a single Wi-Fi 7 client session to aggregate the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz radios simultaneously, increasing effective per-client throughput and reducing the impact of transient interference on any single band. In practice, MLO means that a Wi-Fi 7 laptop in a conference room receives data on whichever combination of 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz channels offers the lowest latency and highest available throughput at any given instant, with the C-400's radio stack handling the multi-link scheduling transparently to the application layer. The 6GHz radio's 5.76 Gbps peak data rate provides the throughput headroom that makes MLO's multi-band aggregation practically useful.

185mm Compact Form Factor

The 185×185mm chassis fits mounting positions that wider APs cannot occupy: suspended ceiling tiles with non-standard cut-out dimensions, below-desk installations in furniture-integrated mounting points, and surface-mount positions in low-ceiling rooms where a larger chassis would be visually obtrusive. The compact form factor does not reduce the antenna gain or radio count relative to the C-430; the 5 dBi integrated antennas are geometrically smaller to fit within the chassis dimensions, but the RF performance is comparable to same-MIMO-order APs with larger chassis at the operational distances for which the C-400 is designed.

CloudVision CV-CUE with 2 GB RAM

Two gigabytes of LPDDR4 RAM and 8 GB of eMMC flash host the full Arista CloudVision CV-CUE management platform locally on the AP, providing AI-driven troubleshooting, automated channel selection across all three Wi-Fi 7 bands, and on-demand client connectivity testing without requiring a cloud connection for routine operations. For organisations with multiple buildings or a distributed campus, all C-400 APs appear within the same CV-CUE management instance alongside any C-430, C-460, or Wi-Fi 6E APs in the estate, allowing unified policy management, firmware updates, and RF analytics from a single dashboard rather than per-building or per-floor management tools.
