The Arista 7260X3 Series is a 2RU high-density 100G switch delivering 12.8 Tbps of non-blocking switching across 64 QSFP28 100G ports, twice the 100G port density of the 1RU 7050X3 at the same ASIC latency profile. Two models address different use cases: the 7260CX3-64 (64x QSFP28 100G + 2x SFP+) targets dense leaf deployment where maximising the number of server connections per rack unit is the design priority, and the 7260CX3-40 (40x QSFP28 100G + 2x SFP+) targets compact spine and interconnect positions where 40 high-bandwidth ports are required with reduced physical footprint compared to a full 64-port model. Both operate below 1 µs forwarding latency.
Hardware table profiles match the 7050X3 family with selectable UFT allocation between MAC addresses, IPv4 LPM, and IPv6 LPM, supporting up to 128K MAC addresses, 64K IPv4 LPM routes, or a host-route-optimised profile with 64K IPv4 host routes. EVPN-VXLAN VTEP support, 32-way ECMP with 1K groups, and 256K IPv4 multicast (S,G) entries complete the L2/L3 feature set. Dual hot-swappable PSUs at 93% Platinum efficiency and N+1 redundant fans provide the availability baseline for a production switching tier.
Sixty-four QSFP28 100G ports in 2RU provide 12.8 Tbps of leaf capacity, the same aggregate bandwidth as two 1RU 7050X3-64 models but in a single managed switch with a single routing table, unified ECMP group, and one EOS instance. Consolidating two 1RU switches into a single 2RU platform halves the management overhead, power supply count, and fan tray count for the equivalent port density.
The 7260CX3-40 provides 40 QSFP28 100G ports in 2RU, targeting compact spine positions in medium-scale leaf-spine fabrics where fewer than 64 downlinks are required but a 1RU 32-port spine leaves insufficient capacity headroom. The 40-port model occupies the same 2RU chassis and shares all software features with the 64-port model, enabling mixed deployment across different fabric tiers without separate firmware or management tooling.
A 256K IPv4 multicast (S,G) forwarding table supports large-scale multicast distribution use cases: financial market data feeds, live video streaming at the aggregation tier, and AI cluster collective communication patterns using multicast primitives. At 12.8 Tbps of switching capacity, the 7260X3 can replicate multicast streams to all 64 attached receivers at wire speed without replication performance degradation.
The Unified Forwarding Table allocates hardware TCAM between MAC, IPv4 LPM, IPv6 LPM, and host-route tables based on a selectable profile, matching the hardware resource allocation to the actual forwarding demands of the deployed workload. A profile change is a configuration operation with a reboot rather than a hardware replacement, allowing the same 7260X3 hardware to serve different tiers as network topology evolves.
