CloudVision as a Service (CVaaS) is the network-wide management and automation layer for Arista EOS environments, sold as a monthly subscription paired with the perpetual EOS licenses on the underlying hardware. The platform delivers Zero Touch Provisioning (allowing new switches and access points to receive their configuration automatically on first boot without a technician staging the device manually) alongside streaming telemetry from every managed device, AI-driven root-cause analysis through the Autonomous Virtual Assist (AVA) engine, and Wi-Fi analytics and RF optimisation for Cognitive Wi-Fi access points. The combination of automation, telemetry, and AI analysis in a single platform addresses the three core operational challenges of large-scale EOS networks: reducing the manual effort required to deploy and configure new devices, providing continuous visibility into network state across thousands of endpoints, and diagnosing the specific cause of performance problems without requiring network engineers to manually correlate log data from multiple sources.

Two deployment models are available. The cloud subscription model is hosted and operated by Arista, billed monthly using a -1M suffix on the SKU, and requires no cluster infrastructure on the customer side; Arista manages the platform availability, updates, and scaling. The on-premises CVP Cluster model deploys a 3-node cluster running Alma Linux on either Arista DCA hardware or customer-supplied virtual machines, giving organisations with data sovereignty requirements, air-gapped environments, or management platform availability requirements that depend on local WAN connectivity the option to operate CVaaS without an external cloud dependency. The Standard cluster (28 vCPU, 52 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD per node) supports up to 250 switches and 3,000 access points; the Large cluster (70 vCPU, 116 GB RAM, 6 TB SSD per node) extends that to 1,000 switches and 5,000 APs. Beyond those limits, multi-cluster deployments are managed through the Arista Multi-Cloud Director federation platform. CloudVision Pathfinder Service (SS-CVS-WAN1-1M SKU) adds SD-WAN management for AWE 7200R router deployments within the same CVaaS subscription.

Zero Touch Provisioning and Configuration Management

ZTP allows a new Arista switch or access point to be physically installed and powered on without any pre-staged configuration on the device. On first boot, the device contacts CVaaS, identifies itself, and receives its complete configuration, including network interfaces, VLANs, routing protocols, and security policies, without any manual intervention. For organisations deploying tens or hundreds of new devices at a time (a campus refresh, a new data centre pod, or a retail chain rollout), ZTP eliminates the pre-staging labour that scales linearly with device count in traditional deployments. Configuration management in CVaaS stores the intended configuration for each device and monitors for configuration drift, comparing what each device is actually running against what it is supposed to run, and flagging or remediating deviations automatically depending on the policy configured.

Real-Time Streaming Telemetry and LANZ

CVaaS receives streaming telemetry from every managed device in real time (interface counters, BGP table state, routing changes, CPU and memory utilisation, and port status) using EOS's native streaming telemetry capability rather than polling via SNMP. The difference between streaming and polling is both latency and resolution: SNMP polling at 5-minute intervals misses sub-minute events like a brief congestion spike that resolves before the next poll; streaming telemetry captures state changes as they occur and delivers them to CVaaS within seconds. LANZ (Latency Analyzer) micro-burst detection specifically identifies short-duration traffic bursts that cause switch buffer occupancy to spike and create latency for other flows; these events are sub-second in duration and would be invisible to 5-minute poll cycles but are captured by the streaming telemetry path and surfaced in CVaaS as LANZ events with precise timestamps and buffer depth measurements.

AVA AI Root-Cause Analysis

The Autonomous Virtual Assist (AVA) engine analyses telemetry data from across the managed estate using machine learning to identify the specific event or configuration state that caused a network performance problem, and presents that finding as a root-cause report rather than a stream of raw events that a network engineer must diagnose manually. When a user reports a connectivity problem, AVA correlates the timing of the complaint with events recorded in the telemetry stream (a spanning tree topology change, a BGP session reset, a LANZ micro-burst event, an AP channel change) and identifies the event that is most likely to have caused the reported impact, ranked by correlation strength. This reduces the mean time to diagnose a network incident from the hours typical of manual log analysis to the minutes required to read AVA's output, which is the operational efficiency gain that justifies the CVaaS subscription cost for large managed networks.

Wi-Fi Analytics, RF Optimisation, and SD-WAN

CVaaS includes Wi-Fi analytics and RF optimisation for Arista Cognitive Wi-Fi access points (channel utilisation history, client association counts, roam event analysis, interference detection) and can automatically adjust AP channel assignments and transmit power based on the measured RF environment to maximise throughput and minimise co-channel interference across the campus. For organisations deploying CVaaS alongside Arista AWE 7200R series WAN routers, the CloudVision Pathfinder Service add-on (SS-CVS-WAN1-1M SKU) extends CVaaS management to include SD-WAN policy management, WAN path monitoring, and traffic steering configuration for the router estate, bringing WAN edge management into the same CVaaS interface used for campus switching and Wi-Fi, rather than requiring a separate SD-WAN management platform with its own interface and data model.
