Multi-gigabit stackable campus PoE switches with 25G uplinks, up to 2.24 Tbps switching, 90W 802.3bt per port, and 1.2 µs forwarding latency across six models.
The Arista CCS-720XP Series is a family of six multi-gigabit campus access switches spanning 1G, 2.5G, 5G, and 10G copper downlinks with PoE power levels up to 90W per port via 802.3bt. Switching capacity ranges from 400 Gbps on the 24-port 720XP-24Y6 through to 2.24 Tbps on the 96-port 720XP-96ZC2 and the 48-port 10G 720XP-48TXH-2C-S, covering small wiring-closet access deployments through high-density Wi-Fi 7 AP floors in a single model family. Uplinks scale from 6× 25G SFP on the 48Y6 and 24Y6 to a combination of 4× 25G and 2× 100G ports on the ZC2 and 48TXH models, providing proportionate uplink bandwidth as port count and per-port speed increase.
All 720XP models deliver 1.2 µs store-and-forward latency on RJ45 copper ports, matching latency expectations established by the campus 720D series at 1G. The 720XP-48Y6 reference configuration produces 294 Mpps at full 700 Gbps forwarding rate, and the platform family supports Arista EOS features including ZTP provisioning, CloudVision telemetry, gRPC/gNMI streaming, OpenConfig model alignment, and 802.1X per-port and per-VLAN access control. Multiple PSU options (650W, 1050W, 2000W, and 500W/700W DC) allow PoE budget to be matched to access-layer demand without changing switch hardware, and support for DC supply inputs makes the 720XP suitable for deployments powered from a UPS or DC bus rather than standard AC mains.
The 720XP-96ZC2 and 720XP-48TXH-2C-S reach 2.24 Tbps of non-blocking switching capacity, enabling deployment at distribution as well as access tier without a dedicated distribution platform in smaller campus buildings. The 96ZC2 combines 80 ports of 2.5G and 16 ports of 5G copper access with 4× 25G and 2× 100G uplinks, allowing a single switch to serve an entire dense access floor while maintaining the switching headroom required when multi-radio Wi-Fi 7 APs draw both 2.5G and 5G client associations simultaneously.
The 720XP-48TXH-2C-S delivers 90W 802.3bt power on all 48 downlink ports simultaneously, supporting the latest high-power access devices (tri-band Wi-Fi 7 APs, security cameras with onboard processing, PoE-powered displays, and 5G small-cell radios) without requiring external midspan injectors or purpose-built PoE switches elsewhere in the access layer. Available PSU options up to 2000W provide PoE budgets scaled to full-floor AP density.
A 1.2 µs store-and-forward latency on copper RJ45 ports is consistent across all six 720XP models regardless of port speed, meaning that upgrading the access tier from 1G (720D) to multi-gigabit (720XP) does not introduce additional per-hop forwarding delay for latency-sensitive campus applications such as voice-over-IP, real-time collaboration platforms, and industrial IoT control traffic sharing the campus access network with general data traffic.
From the compact 720XP-24Y6 with a 650W PSU option to the 720XP-96ZC2 with dual 1050W supplies delivering 1727W of combined PoE, the model family scales to match deployment density. The DC PSU options (500W and 700W) let the 720XP integrate into AV and industrial control environments powered from a 48V DC bus rather than AC mains, and the modular PSU design means upgrading the PoE budget of an installed switch is a field-swap operation requiring no switch replacement.
