The 710HXP-28TXH-4S occupies a standard 1RU rack space for deployment in server rooms, equipment cabinets, and communications rooms where rack infrastructure is already present. The 710HXP-20TNH-4S attaches directly to a 35 mm DIN rail, the standard mounting rail used in electrical panels, junction boxes, and industrial control enclosures, eliminating the need for a rack cabinet in field locations and enabling deployment in floor boxes, wall-mount enclosures, and machine control panels alongside PLCs and relay equipment.
Four high-power ports at 90W 802.3bt on both models support the highest-draw PoE devices encountered in industrial and campus edge deployments: PTZ security cameras with pan/tilt/zoom motors and onboard heating elements, IP intercoms with integrated displays, and multi-radio outdoor access points requiring more power than standard 30W 802.3at can deliver. The remaining copper ports supply 30W (DIN-rail model) or 60W (rack model) for lower-draw devices on the same switch, mixing device classes without requiring separate injectors.
A Quad-Core ARM control-plane processor runs a complete Arista EOS instance (the same EOS binary that runs on the 7050 and 7280 series data center platforms) rather than a stripped-down embedded OS. This means the 710HXP supports the same CLI, API surface (eAPI, gNMI, gRPC), and CloudVision integration as any other Arista campus switch, allowing industrial sites to be managed within the same network operations toolchain as the broader enterprise campus rather than requiring a separate industrial network management system.
