The Arista 7368X4 Series is a modular 400G AI fabric switch designed for large-scale GPU training cluster interconnects where deterministic, lossless Ethernet operation is required at all traffic levels. Available in 4-slot (7368X4-4) and 8-slot (7368X4-8) chassis configurations with the 7368X4-LC-36DD 36x QSFP-DD 400G line card, the platform reaches 230.4 Tbps maximum aggregate capacity. Like its larger sibling the 7358X4, the 7368X4 supports Priority Flow Control, DCQCN, and hardware ECN marking as the congestion management foundation for RoCE v2 workloads running NCCL AllReduce operations across thousands of GPU nodes.

The 7368X4 occupies a mid-range position in the Arista AI fabric switch family: smaller than the 7358X4 in total slot count and maximum capacity, but sharing the same congestion control hardware architecture and the same EOS software feature set. This consistency allows operators to run identical fabric configurations across both chassis sizes, critical for organisations building multi-pod AI cluster facilities where the pod-level fabric (7368X4) and the inter-pod spine (7358X4 or 7800R4) need to operate as a unified, coherently managed forwarding domain.

4- and 8-Slot AI Fabric Chassis

The 7368X4 is available in 4-slot and 8-slot configurations reaching 115.2 and 230.4 Tbps respectively, allowing deployment at the size matched to each pod's GPU count. The modular architecture permits starting with a partially populated chassis and adding line cards as the cluster scales, with no disruption to existing forwarding paths during card insertion.

Hardware DCQCN Congestion Management

DCQCN (Data Center Quantized Congestion Notification) runs in hardware on every 400G port, marking ECN bits on congested flows before queue occupancy reaches packet-drop thresholds. The hardware reaction time (measured in microseconds rather than milliseconds) keeps per-flow queue depth stable during AllReduce operations where thousands of flows converge simultaneously at each switch port.

RoCE v2 Lossless Transport

Priority Flow Control (PFC) enforces lossless Ethernet delivery for the RoCE v2 priority class, preventing any packet drop on the fabric during RDMA operations between GPUs. This is non-negotiable for AI training workloads: a single dropped packet in an AllReduce operation requires the entire operation to retransmit, causing GPU stalls that compound across all nodes participating in the collective.

Consistent EOS Across AI Fabric Tiers

The 7368X4 runs the same EOS software as the 7358X4 spine chassis and the 7060X4/X5 fixed leaf switches, enabling a single management plane, identical automation scripts, and unified telemetry collection across all tiers of the AI fabric. Operators configure congestion control, PFC watchdog, and BGP routing policies once and apply them uniformly without per-platform specialisation or separate tooling.
